I'm a big kid now ... not quite.

Our baby boy was officially 4 months old on the 28th of August. We went to his 4 month check-up today. It went really well. I always get a little nervous before going to his doctor because I don't want to get in trouble if he isn't putting on weight. Well, I don't really get in trouble but I do feel bad when Toph isn't reaching the milestones that the doctor is looking for. In preparation I try to feed Toph right before the visit, every ounce counts. I was telling my mother this and she just chuckled and said, "Its funny how when your older you don't eat all day prior to going to the doctor's office. Every pound counts." Toph is doing great. He met all the milestones for a 4 month old. He's just going to be little.

Toph also got two shots. I tried to prep and sooth him as much as I could. I gave him a pacifier and talked to him while I kissed his cheeck, but by the end of the second shot he kind of lost it. He calmed down pretty quickly once I picked him up. He did get a Sponge Bob Square pants band-aid. Not sure that made it worth it, but it sure looks cute on his little thigh.

His current stats are:
Weight - 12 lbs. 2.5 oz.
Length - 25 inches
Head - 42 cm circumference

Fun facts about Toph:

Can stand when holding his hands.
Can grab for toys around him, loves his toys. He also tosses them when he is done.
Very attentive, listens, makes great eye contact and follows people and voices around him.
Has rolled over three times from his stomach to his back, working on the other way.
Sleeps 6-7 hours at night and takes two naps a day.
Giggles all the time, still waiting for a full on laugh.
Talks constantly. Does really well responding to questions.
Loves to be read to. He sits through 1 or 2 books at a time.
Loves Baby Einstein and Cars (the movie) Actually this is our favorite, but he sits and watches it.
Has been camping. He loved the camp fire and slept on the hard ground with mom and dad.
Has been on a plane. Flew to Montana when he was 6 weeks old
He is very photogenic. He loves to pose for photos.
He loves to kick. He was playing in his Jumperoo at 9 weeks.
Snores sometimes when he is sleeping. Funny ... he is actually snoring right now.
Has several girl friends. :)

That two timer! :) We're so glad we have Topher as a little friend for Kaitlyn! And its good to see our little butter ball hasn't passed him over in weight! Way to go Toph! Try sticking his pacifier in sugar water. That seems to help somewhat when they get shots (a little NICU secret).

Yay! He's so cute. We need to come see you again soon. :) Topher needs to keep his gaggle of girlfriends close to him.
